Jeanne Segal

Jeanne Segal, Ph.D. (1939-2017)

Jeanne Segal, Ph.D. devoted her life to helping people improve their mental, emotional, and social health. Over the course of a nearly 50-year career, she made innumerable contributions to the mental health field, including groundbreaking work on emotional intelligence, holistic health, attachment, and childhood trauma.

In 1999, Dr. Segal and her husband, Robert, co-founded Helpguide.org. She was the editorial director, guiding HelpGuide's readers to the information and encouragement they need to take charge of their well-being and make healthy choices.

She wrote five books: Feeling Loved, Language of Emotional Intelligence, Raising Emotional Intelligence, Living Beyond Fear, and Feeling Great.

She co-coordinated five major community conferences and had leadership roles in eight non-profit organizations.

Her work has been honored with numerous community service awards.
