Robin Stern, Ph.D., is the co-founder and senior advisor to the director of the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence and an associate research scientist at the Yale Child Study Center. She is a licensed psychoanalyst with more than 30 years of experience working with individuals, couples, and families.
Robin is a leading expert on emotional intelligence and gaslighting. She co-developed RULER, an evidence-based approach to social and emotional learning that has been adopted in schools across the United States and internationally. Her work focuses on helping individuals understand and manage emotions, improve relationships, and recognize and respond to psychological manipulation.
In addition to her clinical and research work, Robin consults with schools and organizations on integrating emotional intelligence into practice. She is the author of The Gaslight Effect and The Gaslight Effect Recovery Guide.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a PhD in applied psychology and research design from New York University, as well as a master’s degree in personality and social development from The New School for Social Research, and a postdoctoral certificate in psychoanalytic group psychotherapy from the Postgraduate Center for Mental Health.
